‘Moon Dong-ju wins 6, Moon Hyun-bin hits 2’ Hanwha defeats leader LG 2-1 for second straight win

The Hanwha Eagles silenced the leading LG Twins for their second straight win.

Hanwha earned its second straight win with a 2-1 victory against LG in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on Wednesday. Hanwha improved to 34 wins, 4 draws, and 40 losses on the season. LG, on the other hand, lost its second straight game to fall to 49-2-30 and will have to wait another season to reach 50 wins.

Hanwha scored in the first inning. After Kim In-hwan singled to right and Noh Si-hwan singled to left to put runners on first and second, Moon Hyun-bin, batting fifth, drew a nine-pitch battle with LG starter Casey Kelly and doubled to right, scoring both runners and giving Hanwha a 2-0 lead.

LG, which was stymied by Moon, didn’t get a run until the bottom of the eighth. One out later, Moon Bo-kyung doubled, Park Hae-min walked, and Shin Min-jae singled to load the bases. Hanwha pulled Moon Dong-joo and brought in left-hander Kim Seung-jo.

With the bases loaded, Kim Bum-soo induced a grounder to Hong Chang-ki, but Moon Bo-kyung came home from third to tie the game at 1-2 and make it a one-run game. LG then loaded the bases with a walk to Moon Sung-joo, but Kim Hyun-soo was thrown out at second base to end the threat.

LG was unable to score against Park Sang-won in the bottom of the ninth, and Hanwha held on to the one-run lead to take the win. Moon Dong-ju, who threw a career-high 108 pitches, picked up her sixth win of the season with seven and a third innings of one-run ball, while Kim Bum-soo and Park Sang-won closed out the remaining innings to earn the hold and save, respectively. 안전사이트
