The Mets have acquired Chunrod.

The New York Mets officially announced on February 7 (Korean time) that they had acquired right-handed pitcher Sam Cunrod.

The Mets acquired Chunrod from the Philadelphia Phillies on a waiver claim. Designated for assignment (DFA) in Philadelphia on January 31, Kunrod will continue his career with the Mets.

Right-hander Kunrod, born in 1992, was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 5th round of the 2014 draft and made his big league debut in 2019. In his debut season, he pitched 27.2 innings in 33 games, posting an average of 5 wins and 1 loss with an earned run average of 3.58. After acquiring Chunrod, the Mets gave outfielder Carly Lee, born in 1998, a DFA. Lee debuted in 2021 and recorded .100/100/.300, 1 home run, and 4 RBIs in 13 big league games over two years.
