I’m not waiting for the persimmon to fall from the tree. I’m waiting for it to hit the fence and look down.

Kiwoom cruised to a 13-0 victory over the LG Twins in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on Monday.

From the top of the first inning, the Kiwoom bats pounced on LG starter Kim Yun-sik. Back-to-back singles by Kim Jun-wan and Kim Hye-sung put runners on first and third with no outs. Lee Jung-hoo followed with an RBI double and Russell followed with a single.

Lee Hyung-jong hit a sacrifice fly to center field for a 3-0 lead after the first inning. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Kiwoom’s hitting streak resumed. After Lee Ji-young singled, Kim Hui-jip laid down a sacrifice bunt. Kim Soo-hwan followed with an RBI single and advanced to third on a groundout by Kim Jun-wan before scoring on a single by Kim Hye-sung.

Kiwoom’s offense continued. Lee Jung-hoo’s RBI triple and Russell’s RBI single plated four more runs.

On defense, Lee Hyung-jong’s fighting spirit stood out. In the top of the fifth inning, Lee Jae-won pulled a 138-kilometer five-pitch from Kiwoom’s Choi Won-tae. The big hit curved slightly toward the foul line and crashed into the fence of Kiwoom right fielder Lee Hyung-jong, who was unable to catch the ball.

After falling to the ground, Lee stretched out his glove to catch the ball as it bounced off the fence. It was almost like he was hoping for a persimmon to fall from under a persimmon tree. Of course, a catch doesn’t count as an out, but Lee’s desire to make the catch was evident. 스포츠토토

Lee went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs in his team’s 13-0 win over his hometown LG.

Meanwhile, Kiwoom starter Choi Won-tae threw 94 pitches over seven innings, giving up five hits and striking out seven to earn his fourth win in as many starts.
