Jude Bellingham, 20, has been in the spotlight since his move to Real Madrid, but apparently he’s not so popular with his former Borussia Dortmund teammates.
“Former teammates in the Dortmund dressing room are happy that Bellingham is no longer with the team,” Germany’s Bild reported on Saturday. They claimed that Bellingham was egocentric and bullied others whenever he felt like it.
Bellingham is one of the top prospects to come out of England. Tottenham pundit Jermaine Jenas once described him as a combination of Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard.
Bellingham’s primary position is central midfield. However, he also has the ability to play as an attacking midfielder, winger, and defensive midfielder. In total, he scored 24 goals and provided 25 assists in 132 games for Dortmund.
Considered a complete player, Bellingham was one of the most sought-after prospects in the summer transfer market. In the end, Bellingham joined Real Madrid for a fee of €124 million. He signed a six-year contract until 2029.
Bellingham has good physical attributes (186 centimeters, 75 kilograms) and has been compared to Zinedine Zidane due to his speed and ability to keep the ball. He was given the number 5 shirt, which was also worn by Zidane.
As expected, Bellingham started the 2023-2024 La Liga season opener against Atletico Bilbao on Sept. 13 as an attacking midfielder and scored the game-winning goal in the 36th minute of the first half to help his team win 2-0. He dominated the midfield and was praised for his partnership with Vinicius Junior.
However, Bild wrote: “Bellingham, who rose through the ranks at Dortmund, nearly led them to the title last season and moved to Real for a huge transfer fee. However, he has not always been popular in the dressing room.”
According to the article, Bellingham often craved to be the center of attention, a kind of “attention seeker,” and was sometimes shunned by his teammates during training sessions and game halftimes for being too rough with them.
Bellingham was named captain for the third time at Dortmund. However, it is argued that Bellingham has not shown much leadership. They added that his leadership never lived up to expectations, and that he sometimes looked extremely unhappy. 먹튀검증
